Motorcyclist James Bognar is Killed on Indian River Road in Virginia Beach
When a car and a motorcycle are involved in an accident, nine times out of 10 the motorcyclist comes off worst.
Tragically, this was the case in a crash on Indian River Road in Virginia Beach on April 2, 2014 which claimed the life of a 52-year-old motorcyclist.
Virginia Beach Police said at approximately 12:42 p.m., the communications center received calls about a car, and motorcycle crash in the 6600 block of Indian River Road. Police, Fire, and EMS responded to the accident, and found James Michael Bognar of S. Westgrove Virginia Beach, VA suffering from life threatening injuries.
“A preliminary investigation revealed Bognar traveled northbound on a motorcycle. The second vehicle, a sedan, pulled out of Sandra Lane in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the sedan, ejecting the victim,” stated the police press release.
Mr. Bognar was transported to Norfolk General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Charges are currently pending in the case.
My thoughts as a Virginia Beach motorcycle injury lawyer are with the family of Mr. Bognar. I see far too many instances of car drivers failing to notice motorcyclists when they pull out at intersections or make turns. Often the consequences are tragic.
