Man Whose Car Broke Down Was Hit and Seriously Injured by Tractor Trailer on I-64 in Norfolk
A man whose car had broken down has suffered serious injuries after he was hit by a tractor-trailer in Norfolk.
As a Norfolk trucking accident lawyer, I was concerned to read on WAVY.com how an 18-wheeler hit this man in the westbound lanes of Interstate 64 near the Military Highway exit in Norfolk.
Trooper Taylor with the Virginia State Police told the TV station the driver sustained serious injuries but they are not considered life threatening. He was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
The trooper said all the man remembers is his vehicle breaking down and being out of it when he was hit. The driver of the tractor-trailer did stop to help the victim and has not been charged, WAVY reported.
My thoughts as a Norfolk injury lawyer are with this man. I have seen many instances in which people who are hit by trucks have died. Last year a woman from Newport News was tragically killed by a tractor trailer when she was broken down on the side of I-664 in Chesapeake.
If you are injured by a truck through no fault of your own you may have grounds to file a personal injury claim against the driver’s insurance policy or that of the trucking company. Some of our biggest cases have involved injuries and deaths caused by trucks.
Last year we secured $5 million for a woman from Hampton, VA who was seriously injured by a construction truck in Gloucester County. All cases are different and we cannot guarantee the same result in your case.
