Lawsuits Claim Weed Killer Roundup Causes Lymphoma Cancer
At Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers, we highlight many dangerous drugs and help people file lawsuits against manufacturers. However, there are other dangerous household substances that cause serious illnesses like cancer. Recent studies, for example, claim the weed killer Roundup causes lymphoma.
A report on CNN earlier this year noted the growing number of people who link their lymphomas to the weed killer.
Christine Sheppard told the station the first warning sign was when her right leg swelled up enormously.
An ultrasound found she was completely full of lymph nodes. It was stage IV large-cell lymphoma. The symptoms are serious and getting worse and robbing her of mobility.
The CNN report noted Sheppard had no idea what might have caused her non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma for 12 years.
Then cancer researchers reported that glyphosate, which is a key ingredient in the popular weed killer Roundup, is likely carcinogenic to humans.
The report was compiled by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. It concentrated on organophosphate herbicides
Sheppard sprayed Roundup on her coffee farm in Hawaii for five years. She was not alone in making a link between the herbicide and her condition.
CNN reported she is one of 800 cancer patients who is suing Monsanto, the maker of Roundup, claiming the giant company failed to warn consumers about the risk of cancer associated with Roundup products.
Monsanto has fired back saying there is no evidence that the chemical glyphosate is carcinogenic. It cites a report by the Environmental Protection Agency’s Cancer Assessment Review Committee that dismissed a link.
Earlier this year Monsanto faced a setback when a court released documents raising questions about its research practices, reported The New York Times.
More and more farmers and home gardeners are coming forward to claim the weed killer Roundup caused lymphoma.
The Roundup lawsuits link the weed killer to the following conditions:
According to the Roundup lawsuits, the weedkiller has been linked to the following very serious conditions:
- Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
- Leukemia
- Multiple Myeloma
- Bone Cancer
- B-cell Lymphoma
- Renal Cell Carcinoma (kidney cancer)
- Tumors to the skin
- Chromosomal Damage
- DNA Damage
- Other serious cancers
These are truly horrific and life-impacting side-effects apparently from using a common garden product. There is now a growing body of evidence that the weed killer Roundup causes lymphoma.
