John Cooper named as in the Top 100 VA trial lawyers in 2011

The American Trial Lawyers Association comprises just 100 trial lawyers from each state. John Cooper of the Norfolk and Virginia Beach, VA based personal injury law firm Cooper Hurley, was chosen to be a member of the elite 100 in 2011.

The American Trial Lawyers Association describes itself on its website as a “professional and business organization designed to provide high quality, relevant, and innovative legal programs which are essential in dealing with current issues facing the trial lawyer.”

The association puts the emphasis on practical educational programs and networking opportunities for 21st Century lawyers. It publishes a number of legal publications that address the issues facing trial lawyers in the United States.

Modern lawyers face a plethora of issues and demands. As well as concentrating on winning their case, there are the challenges of running a business and keeping their marketing operation up to date with a fast moving multimedia environment.

The association provides user-friendly news, information, and education to attorneys who practice spend much of their time in the court room, be it in civil plaintiff work or criminal defense law.

Membership to the American Trial Lawyers Association is obtained through invitation only and is only given to those attorneys who “exemplify superior qualifications, leadership, reputation, influence, stature, and profile as trial lawyers, both civil plaintiff and criminal defense.”

The association works in partnership with leading seminar and educational organizations to provide continuing legal education programs to its members. Both the workshops and conferences offer “powerful learning tools for the success of a trial lawyer’s practice,” the organization states on its website.

“This enables a trial lawyer to acquire new ways of thinking and new strategies, with a better focus toward success in the practice of law.”

The association publishes The American Trial Lawyer magazine containing articles relevant to the trial lawyer profession.
