Hampton, Virginia Car Accident Lawyer Reports – Six are Hurt in Hampton Crash
Excess speed can kill and injure. In Hampton, Virginia, a Saturn SUV traveling at a high rate of speed sent six people to hospital.
The multiple car crash occurred on Jan. 12, 2012 on Lasalle and Amistead Avenues in Hampton, VA, WAVY.com reported.
“The driver of a Saturn SUV was traveling north on Lasalle when he side swiped four cars stopped at the red light and rear ended a fifth vehicle,” the TV station reported.
As Hampton, VA car accident injury attorneys, we see many wrecks caused by high speed. The consequences can often be tragic. We are relieved that in this accident in Hampton most of the injuries were not of a fatal nature.
Police say the 32-year-old Saturn driver who was traveling at a high rate of speed, suffered the most serious injuries, although his injuries are not life-threatening.
Five others were treated at a local hospital with supposedly minor injuries or complaints of injuries. The news reports do not always give a really accurate idea of the damages. The hospital emergency room my call an injury minor just because not urgent surgery was required. The person may have serious or permanent medical problems that are not realized until they are seen in an orthopedist’s office, where a compression fracture of the back or a torn rotator cuff in the shoulder is found from the wreck.
The reason for this crash is unclear. Police believe it may have been caused by a medical condition.
A driver does not always have to be clearly at fault for victims to have a grounds for compensation for injuries caused. In a recent article our Tidewater, VA car accident injury attorneys reported on a $500,000 settlement made to the widower of a woman who died after a crash with a truck on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. No charges were brought in this case because both drivers claimed they had a green light. Just because the cops do not give a ticket does not mean that there is not clear enough fault for a valid insurance claim for injuries. Often the police seem to say , “It is an insurance matter,” even when one side is likely the culprit if interviews of witnesses are done.
