Fort Eustis Soldier is Convicted over DUI Deaths of Two Christopher Newport Students in Hampton
A jury has found a Fort Eustis soldier guilty in a wrong-way car crash in Hampton that claimed the lives of two Christopher Newport University students and injured three others.
The Daily Press reported Jesse Evans Jr., 35, was convicted in the 2011 deaths of two students. The jury recommended he spend 26 years in prison on two counts of aggravated involuntary manslaughter and three counts of maiming by DUI.
The girls who died in this tragic crash on I-64 near J Clyde Morris Boulevard, were roommates. Evans was driving the wrong way on I-64 when the cars collided.
This tragic accident shocked and appalled us as Hampton car accident attorneys. It illustrates, once again, how alcohol can kill on the interstates of Hampton Roads.

“Evans’ blood-alcohol level was 0.26 two hours after the crash, according to a forensic toxicologist Dr. Connie Luckie,” the Daily Press reported.
“The legal limit in Virginia is 0.08. It was the fourth time Evans had been charged with DUI since 2004. One of the charges stemmed from a Newport News incident that occurred three months before the fatal crash. The other two occurred while Evans was stationed in Germany and Hawaii and were handled by the military.”
If your loved one has been killed in a drunk driving accident, you may find yourself totally unable to process the devastating impact their loss is having and will have on the rest of your life. Those who have lost family members this way often have grounds for a wrongful death lawsuit.
