Driver of Car Involved in Head-On Collision With Police Officer in Norfolk, Dies
Recently I wrote about the tragic death of Karoline Johnson on her 21sth birthday in a crash in Norfolk that also left a police officer injured.
She was the passenger in a car involved in a head-on collision with a police car, after the driver crossed the median, according to police.
Sadly the driver of the car has now also died this week at Norfolk General Hospital, the Virginian-Pilot reported.
Accident victim killed on her birthday
The deceased driver was a 24-yer-old from Norfolk. My thoughts as a Norfolk car accident lawyer are with his family at this sad time, as well as with the family of Karoline Johnson.
According to WAVY.com, at about 4:30 a.m. on April 19, 2013, a Honda heading south on the 6200 block of Tidewater Drive crossed into the northbound lanes where It was involved in a head-on crash with a police cruiser.
Karoline Johnson of the 9300 block of Inlet Road in Ocean View, was a passenger in the Honda and died at the scene of the accident on Tidewater Drive in Norfolk, police said. She had just turned 21.
Her obituary described Karoline as an “old soul, wise beyond her years.”
“A former Little Miss and Pre-Teen Miss Norfolk, she will be remembered for her love of performing in every way possible: pageants, dancing, singing, or just being a class clown. Karoline graduated from Norview High School in 2010 and has worked as a dispatcher for Commonwealth Heating and Cooling for the past 5 years,” it stated.
There may be grounds for a wrongful death lawsuit against the insurance policy of the deceased driver, in this case. The police officer may also have grounds for a personal injury claim.
