Driver Abbes Saddam is Killed After Being Rear-ended by a Truck in Virginia Beach
On far too many occasions the careless or reckless driving of a truck driver has led to injury and death on the roads of Virginia Beach and further afield. In some cases another truck driver pays the ultimate price.
I was saddened to read about the death of Abbes Saddam in Virginia Beach this week. Mr. Saddam of Poyner Lane in Virginia Beach was driving a Ford box truck along Virginia Beach Boulevard when he was hit from behind close to Roselynn Lane by a 2000 Freightliner 7-Up delivery truck, James Cason Jr of Virginia Beach Police Department said in a press release.
“The preliminary investigation revealed both vehicles were traveling westbound on Virginia Beach Boulevard on December, 17. As the vehicles approached Roselynn Lane, the Freightliner struck the Ford from the rear. The Ford then left the roadway striking a utility pole and ejecting the driver,” said Mr. Cason.
The 56-year-old Ford driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. My deepest condolences are with the family of Mr. Saddam.
All indications from the accident report are that Mr. Saddam did nothing wrong but was hit and killed due to the fault of another truck driver. The case is under investigation and no criminal charges have been brought as yet. When a truck is involved in an accident, the weight of the vehicle means the force of the impact is often greater than when cars are involved in collisions.
Our experienced Virginia Beach trucking accident attorneys have represented the families of many people who were killed in truck accidents as well as those who are injured.
We secured a $3.5 million settlement for family members of a man who was killed in a terrible fiery truck crash on I-64 in Norfolk and a $5 million settlement for a woman who was badly injured by a truck in Gloucester, VA.
All cases are different. Although we cannot guarantee the same result in your case, we will work tirelessly to obtain the jury verdict or settlement you deserve. Often a trucking company can be liable for deaths and injuries caused in crashes. A wrongful death case can never compensate for the loss of a loved one. However, a death can often cause serious financial problems to those who are left behind and a family may also feel they require some justice after their loss.
