Dangers of Tour Buses Are Highlighted in California Crash and Virginia Beach Injury Lawyer Video
In a new video I warn of the dangers inherent in the tour bus industry. Sadly just days after I recorded the video, another tour bus crash occurred, leaving at least seven people dead and injuring many more.
The Los Angeles Times reported California Highway Patrol investigators had not yet found the cause of the crash near Yucaipa, in the foothills about 80 miles east of Los Angeles on Sunday.
“But the company that operated the tour bus, Scapadas Magicas, was repeatedly cited in recent years for vehicle maintenance violations, including multiple brake problems, according to federal Department of Transportation records.”
The tour bus was returning to Tijuana, Mexico, after a day trip to a ski resort in the Southern California mountains when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
It’s an all too familiar story. In 2011 a tour bus crashed on the I-95 in Caroline County, Virginia.
Recently the driver Kin Yiu Cheung, who fell asleep at the wheel, was convicted of four counts of involuntary manslaughter.
The National Transportation Safety Board concluded Cheung had limited opportunities for sleep in the days leading up to the accident, and poor government oversight allowed the Charlotte, N.C.-based Sky Express bus company to operate despite continued safety violations.
