Cooper Hurley Supports Larchmont RAT race and A 1,000 Shoes for 1,000 Smiles
In keeping with our tradition of supporting good causes in the Norfolk, Virginia Beach and greater Hampton Roads area, Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers has made two more donations to deserving causes.
We are again supporting Larchmont Elementary School PTA’s RAT Race – a twilight run to raise money for the Norfolk school.
This years’ RAT race – the 33rd – will be held on September 19. “This family-friendly fundraising event is an enduring Norfolk tradition and is one of the few running events in the area that takes place in the evening hours,” the RAT race website states. With a one mile race for children and young adults as well as a 5k race for those who need more distance, the RAT race is billed as an event that offers something for everyone.
Cooper Hurley has also made a contribution to the Norfolk-based charity A 1,000 Shoes for a 1,000 Smiles, a Norfolk-based non-profit that gives brand new shoes to needy school-aged children at the start of the school year and at Christmas.
The 503 (c) (3) has been in existence since 2013. It recently partnered with the Hampton Roads Social Services Workforce Development Center to ensure needy children receive shoes. In 2013, the organization gave 369 children brand new shoes at the start of the school year. Its goal for 2014 is to give 1,000 kids new shoes.
