NORFOLK, VA — November 18, 2021: Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers’ extensive work in the Hampton Roads community has been recognized by Coastal Virginia Magazine, which recently named the personal injury law firm as a recipient of its 2021 Giving Back Awards.
Every year, the magazine spotlights businesses and non-profits that give back to their local communities. Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers was featured in the November/December issue of Coastal Virginia Magazine.
The winners were also celebrated at a Giving Back Awards Celebration at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) on November 10.
Coastal Virginia Magazine stated the awards are designed to “honor Coastal Virginia’s outstanding nonprofit organizations and businesses that give back to the local community.”
“The purpose of the Giving Back Awards is to shine a spotlight on those nonprofit organizations and businesses that transform our communities and enrich the lives of others in a variety of ways with charitable or cultural missions or through partnerships and targeted initiatives,” the magazine stated in a letter to the winners.
This year’s honorees were selected by the Coastal Virginia Magazine team as well as guest judges from a range of local community organizations. “Considerations for selection included the strength of mission and contribution to the community as represented by specific and timely examples included in the nomination. The selection process also reflects an effort to represent the diversity and breadth of the nonprofit organizations and businesses that give back in our region,” Coastal Virginia Magazine stated.
Nominations for the awards opened in the summer. This year, the Giving Back Awards encompassed both nonprofit organizations with a variety of missions—from feeding the hungry to supporting the arts—and for-profit businesses that are making an impact in the region through charitable programs, workforce development, giving, community outreach and more.
Ten businesses received this award along with Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers, including Damuth Trane, Armada Hoffler, Towne Bank, The Law Firm of Charlene A Morring, P.C., and several others.
Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers, a Norfolk-based personal injury law firm, supports scores of great organizations every year through the Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers Cares initiative.
“Cares” has committed over $200,000 to the community since 2019 and regularly donates to charities such as the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, local non-profits, churches, schools, and other community organizations.
Every year, the law firm supports young people who are furthering their education with $2,000 scholarships via its Focused Driving Scholarship Program.
Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers has also supported Hampton Roads schools during the pandemic and recently awarded $5,000 to Larrymore Elementary School in Norfolk, the winner of the firm’s first Vote for a School contest.
This summer, members of the public voted for their favorite nonprofits and community organizations in the firm’s annual Vote for a Cause competition. The firm gave a $1,000 donation to the winner of the contest, Billy the Kidden Rescue, a cat rescue and adoption organization in Virginia Beach.
