Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers Donates $1,000 to the Norfolk Law Library
The Norfolk Law Library is an invaluable resource for attorneys and members of the public alike in the heart of the city. The Norfolk Law Library expanded rapidly since it started as a private bar association library belonging to the Norfolk & Portsmouth Bar Association. The library was incorporated as Norfolk Law Library in 1987. It opened to members of the public as well as to bar members at this time.
The Norfolk Law Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation under a board of directors. It is located in the City of Norfolk Courthouse under the auspices of the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office. Donations and civil filing fees fund this institution. Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers has a long tradition of supporting this important library. We recently donated $1,000 to the non-profit.
The Significance of the Library
The library moved from Dominion Tower to its current location in the City of Norfolk Courthouse in early 2018. It provides a great resource for lawyers, paralegals, non-profits, and members of the public who are researching aspects of the law.
The library contains a large collection of legal resources specific to Virginia. Additionally, it houses volumes of general and federal legal texts. The library contains public computers and study areas as well.
Helpful library staffers are available to assist people who are seeking legal resources, navigating the large collection, and those requiring technical support. The Norfolk Law Library points out on its website, its librarians are not qualified or authorized by law to give legal advice to library users. At Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers, our attorneys can give specific legal advice on personal injury matters and put you in touch with attorneys who deal with practice areas we do not cover.
How Cooper Hurley Has Helped the Community
The attorneys at Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers have their roots in the Hampton Roads community and support many great causes every year. For instance, our attorneys regularly present continuing legal education (CLE) events to fellow lawyers at Norfolk & Portsmouth Bar Association seminars. We also give CLE presentations to the Virginia Beach Bar Association. This year, attorneys John Cooper and John Baker spoke about the personal injury process in a CLE at a Virginia Beach Bar Association seminar.
We supported some great 757 causes over the last two months. In late 2019, we donated dozens of coats to students at Southside STEM Academy at Campostella and donated over $1,000 to the Urban League of Hampton Roads Young Professionals’ Holiday Toy Drive
We are our regular supporters of the Ohef Sholom Temple in Norfolk and Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia. Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers supports the Larchmont Elementary School Spring Carnival, as well as their annual Rat Race children’s run.
