At Cooper Hurley we talk a lot about how motorcycle helmets can save lives. We even make videos on the topic to get the safety message out there. Figures from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) suggest each year helmets save more than 1,500 lives on the highways of America.
Recently my client Shari Ross was involved in a motorcycle accident. She landed on her shoulder and head and says in this video it’s her belief that her helmet saved her life. I am so relieved her injuries were not even more serious than those that she sustained. Often motorcyclists who land on their heads can suffer brain injuries.
In this article on the Virginia Beach motorcycle accident lawyers site, I outline Virginia’s laws in relation to helmet use.
In a recent press release Advocates for Highways and Auto Safety stated : “The number of motorcycle crash fatalities has more than doubled since a low of 2,116 motorcycle crash deaths in 1997. All-rider helmet laws increase motorcycle helmet use, decrease deaths and injuries and save taxpayer dollars.”
