The woman killed in a head-on car crash close to her home on Shillelagh Rd in Chesapeake, VA was a well-known veterinarian in the local community, it has been revealed.
We reported on this tragic crash in an article on the Chesapeake car and truck accident injury lawyers site. My thoughts are with the family of 59-year-old Ruth Ann MacQueen, who was widely known for her compassion and kindness to animals.
Chesapeake veterinarian killed in crash
Ruth Ann MacQueen, owned Midway Veterinary Hospital on South Military Highway, WAVY.com reported.
Kelly O’Sullivan with the Chesapeake Police Department said the head-on crash occurred in the 2300 block of Shillelagh Rd just before 8:30 a.m. on November 15, 2012. MacQueen was reported to be on her way to visit her 90-year-old mother.
WAVY reported on the veterinarian’s reputation for kindness to animals.
Two Grassfield High School students were also involved in the crash. One of them was trapped. Fortunately, their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Police said the 18-year-old female driver and a 15-year-old female passenger were in an Isuzu Rodeo traveling north bound. Ruth MacQueen was in a minivan traveling south bound.
It’s not clear who was at-fault in this tragic accident. Factors such as the speed vehicles were travelling and which vehicle crossed a center line are crucial to such investigations and may determine whether the family of the deceased driver has grounds to bring a wrongful death lawsuit.
