Chesapeake Car Injury Lawyer Report : Driver Hits Three Cars in Police Chase
Most accidents we see on the highways of Hampton Roads are caused by carelessness, speed, distracted or drunk driving.
But, on occasions, we see drivers who appear not to care about who they hit or hurt.
A case in point was a driver who was chased by police from Chesapeake into Portsmouth a finally Virginia Beach, hitting three other vehicles.
Ravi Sheth with the Chesapeake Police Department said in a press release Chesapeake officers attempted to stop the man for a traffic stop in the area of Portsmouth Boulevard and Dock Landing Road shortly after 11 a.m. on the morning of November 23, 2012.
“Sheth says the driver refused to stop and continued toward Portsmouth then Virginia Beach via Interstate 264,” reported WAVY.com
In Portsmouth the driver rammed Portsmouth police vehicles – and Portsmouth police joined the chase.
Grazia Moyers, a spokeswoman with the Virginia Beach Police Department, said the suspect hit two cars and one Portsmouth sergeant’s marked vehicle.
The pursuit ended in Bayside Road where the suspect, was taken into custody. He was later charged with reckless driving, hit and run, felony eluding and driving on a suspended license.
It’s not clear if there were any injuries resulting from this crash. Given a spate of recent fatal crashes we have reported on in Suffolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth and Virginia Beach recently, I’m relieved nobody appears to have been seriously hurt.
