Celebrities Who Have Been Involved in Serious Car Wrecks
Paul Walker, the Fast and Furious star who was killed in a high speed car crash in 2013, has been in the new again thanks to Wiz Khalifa’s tribute to the star. The fast-selling single See You Again, hit Number One in the UK recently.
It’s an emotional track written in honor of Walker, who was killed in a car crash in November 2013 shortly before filming on the movie he was working on was wrapped up.
Ironically, Paul Walker made a name because of speed. Sadly it appears to have killed him when his friend lost control of a high powered Porsche in California. He’s not the only celebrity to have been involved in a car wreck. Here are some of the highest profile celebrity car crashes:
1 Bob Simon – The award winning CBS war correspondent was killed in Feb 2015 when the driver of a hired Lincoln Town car lost control in New York City.
2 Princess Diana – The Princess of Wales died after suffering massive internal injuries in a high-speed car crash in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997. She was said to be fleeing the paparazzi when her chauffeur crashed into a concrete pillar head-on in the Place D’Alma underpass. The driver and her boyfriend, Harrods heir Dodi Fayed, also died at the crash scene.
3 James Dean – The life of James Dean, one of the most promising actors of his generation, was tragically cut short when he died in a high-speed car crash in 1955. He was just 24. The actor was driving his new Porsche 550 Spyder to an auto rally in California when he was involved in a head-on collision with another car.
4 Tracy Morgan – Saturday Night Live actor Tracy Morgan survived a crash in which a big rig hit his limo in New Jersey in 2014, but a friend was killed. The actor has since reported brain injuries and is suing Wal-Mart, the company that owned the truck.
5 Jackson Pollock – The iconic abstract impressionist painter Jackson Pollock died in 1956 at the of age 44 in a car crash close to his home. He was driving under the influence of alcohol when his car skidded and slid off the road before crashing into a tree. A passenger, Edith Metzger, was also killed in the accident, while his mistress Ruth Kligman, survived.
