Airbag Failure that Left Virginia Man Brain Damaged Leads To $14 Million Verdict by Jury
The failure of an air bag to deploy in a Hyundai car left a man from Virginia with traumatic brain injuries, a jury has heard.
The jury in Pulaski County eventually awarded the man, who was left in a coma for almost a week, $14 million.
Virginia Lawyers Weekly reported the victim was left with a permanent brain injury after the accident when he was 16. Attorneys for the family argued airbag sensors in Hyundai’s 2003 to 2008 Tiburon models, were in an incorrect location and failed to accurately detect when the side air bag should deploy.
Virginia Lawyers Weekly reported the $14 million verdict in the case may be a record products liability case for Southwest Virginia.
The plaintiff was represented by Ari Casper, Julie Mitchell and Ron Kovner.
